You can find it very tough and challenging to go out on the road with mud, sand, or even soft dirt. But ask yourself, do you have a choice? We mean, people almost always take hurdle-some routes to get to places they urgently need to be at.  No one prefers moving out of their comfort zones until they really have to. And no one wants their car stuck in sand in Gilbert, AZ.
Regardless of what the reason might be, there are certain measures you must take if you want your vehicles to get through all the mud and sand in one piece.
Let's look at the following tips so that you may be able to save your vehicle from falling into mud, dirt, or sand.
1. Physically Inspect the Road
First of all, you must know what you are dealing with. Get out of your vehicle and take a detailed look at the road so that you have a clearer vision about the conditions you might have to face.  This will assist you in planning for the route in advance and protect you against all kinds of road hazards.

2. Move along a Straight Line
We will advise you to drive straight. After observing the road conditions, you will get a fair idea about whether moving in the straight direction will prove to be helpful or not.

3. Maintain Momentum
You should slow down when driving on a path blanketed with a lot of mud, dirt, and soft-sand. Most importantly, you should try to keep a steady momentum. You should not use the gear that is too low, especially when you're driving on mud.

When the wheels are rotating and on the move, go easy on the throttle, and let them get their traction as they lose their speed.  We advise you to use a low gear at times you have to drive on firm sand.

4. Know Where Your Wheels Are Pointed
When you see deep ruts when driving in the mud, be wary of the direction of your wheels. The tires will most likely be in the direction of the rut. The front two wheels of your vehicle will quickly regain traction when they find a dry patch. However, this can be damaging because it can jolt your vehicle outside the rut very quickly. In a situation like this, you should try to have your wheels in the direction of the rut.

5. Slightly Deflate Your Tires
You can consider deflating your tires if you are about to drive on mud.  This way your tires will be close to the ground underneath them. You will have better traction this way but a comparatively lower clearance. When you have to drive over a rough coarse with deep potholes, you will examine that your tires have a little bit of contact with the ground.  Hence drive with minimum speed, and remember to inflate your tires again later on.

6. Avoid Using Brakes
While driving on mud, don't overuse your brakes. In fact, try to avoid their usage. Lower your speed so that your vehicle eventually comes to a stop. You will be far from creating a deep rut this way as those can make things difficult. In case you are driving through sand dunes, drive in a straight line i.e. either straight upwards or straight downwards.
